The Technical Manager is an integral role ensuring we deliver this cutting-edge experience at the optimal level to all guests. On a daily basis, the Technical Manager will lead planned and reactive maintenance throughout the experience and ensure the day-to-day operation is running safely, smoothly and efficiently. During live show periods the technical department operate the master show control system, which triggers all aspects from opening of doors allowing people to move around, to more traditional technologies such as lighting, sound and AV. During this time they are also responsible for information flow about elements of the show to both cast and crew, so excellent communication skills are key.
Scope & Responsibilities
Managing the technical operations, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties. Responsibilities include managing the department, team scheduling, completing daily/weekly reports, identifying and implementing training, scheduling & conducting maintenance and leading regular team meetings. You will further be responsible for the safe operation of all show elements, including lighting, sound, video projection, automation around the venue, along with ensuring that the site is safe for all staff and guests. Additional responsibilities include the ability to troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise, sometimes independently and at speed during live show operations. You will be confident presenting ideas both verbally, and through written documentation.
You will be a highly self-motivated individual, who can lead a team, and is able to demonstrate a good knowledge in the use of most technical disciplines including Audio, Video, Lighting, timecode, Dante, and QLab operation. Technical theatre education is desirable. Experience within immersive theatre and virtual reality experiences is preferred. In-house training will be provided on the systems.
Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in a supervisory/management position.
Skills and knowledge to manage technical operations.
Clear understanding and experience of health & safety management.
Ability to take initiative and remain calm under pressure.
Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
100% Flexible (evening and weekend work will be required).
