We are currently recruiting a Scenic & Maintenance Assistant to join our Layered Reality™ team at The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience (www.thewaroftheworldsimmersive.com). This is a layered reality multi-sensory experience set across a vast 22,000 sq/ft, combining music, immersive theatre, virtual reality, motion simulators and 5D effects.


Position Summary

The Scenic & Maintenance Assistant will ensure we deliver and maintain high standards of set and maintenance throughout this cutting-edge experience. This role will be on hand to support the BOH management and liaise on all set and maintenance related issues. The Scenic & Maintenance Assistant will be the point of contact for all set and maintenance needs outside of the operations of the experience.


Scope & Responsibilities 

Working within the BOH department you will help maintain all aspects of the experience with a biased towards the theatrical side of the project whilst ensuring that the site is safe for all staff and guests. Predominantly you’ll be sourcing materials, fixing set pieces & props, dressing the set and conducting maintenance and repairs. This role will also support other BOH teams where required. You will further be responsible for painting, furniture assembly, fixing fixtures & fittings and general repairs.


Background & Experience

You will be a highly self-motivated individual, with previous experience in theatre productions. You will have significant scenic experience within a theatre or similar environment, demonstrating strong carpentry, painting and finishing skills.


Other Requirements

Minimum three years’ experience in a maintenance/scenic position.

Clear understanding of health & safety.

Strong problem solving skills.

Ability to take initiative and remain calm under pressure.

Excellent communication skills.


Job Title: Scenic & Maintenance Assistant

Responsible to: Technical Manager

Job Type: Part-time, Permanent, from 8 to 24 hours a week dependent on availability & necessity 

Probation: 3 Months

Pay: £12 p/h

Location: Aldgate, London, EC3A 2BJ
